Dr. Waldman has 15 years of experience completing non-treating medical examination. He has completed well over 1000 assessments for the courts in Manitoba and hundreds of assessments for Disability Insurance providers, Unions, professional regulatory bodies and employers. As per The College of Physicians and Surgeons of Manitoba By-Law 11 Section 43, please be aware that non-treating medical examinations are considered a non-insured service and Dr. Waldman charges an hourly rate for all time involved in the arrangement, preparation and completion of the assessment, including the interview, review of information provided, testing, any travel required, and preparation of the assessment report. An estimate to complete the assessment would be 5 to 20 hours, depending on the complexity of the file and the amount of material to be reviewed. Although it is unusual for the preparation of the report to be more than 10 hours, there are circumstances where this is the case. If there is travel required or if it is expected that Dr. Waldman will be required to attend court or a hearing to respond to questions regarding the report, please ensure that you have discussed those issues with Dr. Waldman prior to confirming an appointment.
Prior to scheduling an appointment, Dr. Waldman will require a comprehensive information package relevant to the assessment questions, as well as a cover letter providing a brief background, and outlining any specific questions for him to answer.
Dr. Waldman is able to contract out his services to a variety of third parties who require an objective assessment of an adult’s mental health to assist that third party with decision making. It is expected that as part of that arrangement the referring party will ensure that the client is at the appointment at the time provided. A missed appointment will result in an invoice for 3 hours as that is the amount of time Dr. Waldman sets aside for the assessment interview. If the appointment needs to be cancelled, please provide 48-hour notice. The final invoice will be included with the completed report and made out to the third party, and payment is expected from the party requesting the assessment and not the person who is being assessed. GST is required and will be added to the hourly rate. Any requests that originate from out of province will require a 3-hour retainer provided prior to scheduling an appointment.
