I am a Medical Practitioner licensed to practice in Manitoba and I am licensed to practice telemedicine in Saskatchewan. I hold specialist qualifications in Psychiatry, and I am a Fellow of The Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. I have also obtained a subspecialty Certificate in Forensic Psychiatry from The Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. I am an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Manitoba. I have been practicing in Psychiatry since 2003, specializing in Medicolegal and Forensic work. I am currently practicing as a Forensic Psychiatrist working in a private practice consisting of Corrections Psychiatry at Stony Mountain Institution and Saskatchewan Penitentiary, consulting to a community-based addictions program (Executive Medical Solutions), providing psychiatric treatment to adults with an Intellectual Disability and a history of violent or sexually aggressive behaviour, as well as providing non-treating medical examinations, in both civil and criminal cases. I am the Prairie Region Representative to The Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada Subspecialty Committee in Forensic Psychiatry. I sit on the executive of the Canadian Academy of Psychiatry and the Law and I am the co-editor of the Canadian Academy of Psychiatry and the Law newsletter. I have provided reports to the Courts of Manitoba in response to court-ordered assessments of Fitness and Criminal Responsibility; as well as providing reports to the Criminal Code Review Board in Manitoba, providing opinions regarding issues relevant to the Criminal Code Review Board’s determination of an accused’s disposition. I am also listed as an expert by the Government of Canada regarding assessments for Indian Residential School claimants through the Independent Assessment Process.
